It’s All About Love – Aug. 11, 2017

2008-07-03 17.04.08It has been quite some time since I have written on this site and much has happened since we have stopped for a time for God to work in each of our souls.  As I have explained before, the House of Nazareth, is the place where Mary, Mother of God raised Jesus, Son of God.  However, the House of Nazareth is much more than that.  Over the years we have seen so many changes from a solid firm community, to God slowly stripping each of us to be unto His own.  There where those called more to the active life and those called back to God as we all know the loss of Fr. John Brown.  He was much loved in this life as he taught many about living in the Divine Will as he spent years with us at the House of Nazareth learning what it meant to be contemplative.

It was indeed a difficult struggle for all as our wills rubbed against each other and we learned the true meaning of love.  It is one thing to say, “I have read the volumes, I live in the Divine Will and quite another to actually have your will bound to the throne of God vowing to never give life to it again.  The power of the Holy Spirit will go after your will savagely and with not much pity to your whining “why me Lord”.  The road is narrow and the gate even narrower that leads to God for one turns to face the fire, climbs into the wine press to be ground fine again.  In this they are poured out as food for others to receive grace, “no loner I, but Christ who lives in me.”

Suffering is no longer offered up, for one has nothing to offer to Christ.  They receive, like a hungry bird, waiting for the worm to be dropped into it’s waiting mouth; and the soul waits in peace and joy.  Their burden is truly light and the yoke is easy.  We hear these words and wonder, will it ever happen.  Well it’s does dear souls.  I know this site has lost many readers.  I do hope that you will check in again, as I will continue Desert Morning several days during the week as God wills me to write about, “Love”.

How does one write about love, you might ask.  There is Uncreated Love and created love. Uncreated Love is the love of God.  Created love is the love that man generates for each other and is an emotion that one might feel for another.  I can have all the emotion for another in the world and it may not bring me to heaven in the end.  In fact it might condemn me to hell.  Love is about sacrifice. Am I willing to die for another, die to everything dear in my life,  die to become Christ in this world.  If I am not, then I probably am not even living Christianity 101.    I have  attempted to teach others the value of suffering and most especially the insults and rejecting of a word said in slight or insult to their ego, and I have lost those closest to me over the years, even those that have come for spiritual direction.  Why, they cannot seem to get past the insults and receive sufferings to their ego.  In their soul each of us seem to think we are better than Christ and should not be insulted, setting self up as the thief on the cross that demands to Jesus, “If you are the Christ, then get us down from here.”  Yet it is the very reception of insults and all sufferings that eventually strips the will of self and leads the soul to becoming “uncreated love” inasmuch as is possible for a finite creature.  The more you abandon self the to the fire the more the soul is molded into the fine gold which becomes the peace that surpasses all understanding.

Yes, we want all our prayers answered, we want to live in God’s will, yet when the Holy Spirit sends the fire of purgation to do just what we pray for, we leave, and Christ must say to us, “will you leave me too.”  So, friends, as we have had years apart, I ask you, “have you left Him too?  Have you been able to stay firm in receiving, in the continued reading of this site, which I left posted for all, that you might study and continue to grow, as the Holy Spirit has worked on your soul.   Are you still kneeling before the cross, crying out why, take away my suffering.  Are we lamenting before the cross, or are you up on the cross looking at the world through His eyes receiving your suffering saying let it be done unto me according to your will and giving thanks and praise, the only acceptable sacrifice to God our Father through Christ our Lord that Mary may pour grace out over the world according to His designs, not yours.  In this you are on the narrow road to become uncreated love. Blessings from the heart of the Desert.  Amen!

Feast of the Immaculate Conception – Dec. 8, 2015

Feast of the Immaculate Conception – Dec. 8 2014
Mary, conceived without sin, what a gift to us, our Mother, and how many of us refuse or fail to understand the beauty of Mary.
Each of us desires a mothers love, even if we have been raised in a home without this love, or in a home where our mother may have been less than present with love given for reasons darkening her own soul. It is not for us to judge her, it is for us to embrace what God has given and allow it to be the fruit of the passion in our life to be made perfect as Christ was made perfect although He was the Christ, He too was made perfect in suffering.
One of the commandments is to honor your Father and Mother. I take this to mean first of course our Heavenly Father, and if this is our Heavenly Father, there must be a Heavenly Mother, and this must be Mary. This follows with us honoring our earthly father and mother, and we need to resolve all turmoil within us that placed voids of love in the process of growing up. Many of us have serious voids to fill and this cannot be done with self. It must be done with a complete change of heart with a difficult climb up the mountain of the Lord. Understanding this, it seems that most will mold their personalities to fit into the world, be comfortable on the outside, while the inside is in shreds. It lacks the perfection and the comfort to even come close to being peaceful. The soul lives in an upheaval of ups and downs in life, much like one diagnosed as a manic-depressive, which I think is quite the foolish diagnosis, not because there are not souls suffering as such, but if we are honest with self, anyone not abandoning their will to the interior purging and have the voids of love filled with the love of Christ to become pure being as Christ in this world will be suffering in a manic depressant state, the highs and lows of life. I am first filled with joy, next I am lost in sorrow, angry at God, my life is a mess, and on and on it goes.
God has given us a perfect Mother, a Father, God, Abba, that has created us from nothing. We are created in the image and likeness of the Second Person of the Trinity, Christ. Christ, the Man/God came from outside of time into time and through the power of the Holy Spirit, Love, He was incarnated in the womb of the most pure, Mary our Mother.
Mary, conceived without sin, could have at any time given life to her will. Think of your children, how willful they are, how at a very young age they test and attempt to do their will. We are aware of it as we watch them grow, laughing at how strong-willed they are. Yet Mary gave no life to her will, for she was created without sin, as man in the garden. In this she was in constant correspondence with her Father in heaven. The angels watched over her, and at the proper time the angel appeared and her yes was given. Without this yes, there would be no salvation history, no Christ on the Cross, no miracles, no hope, no faith, just man bearing down on man. Why was Christ born in a stable as a babe? For in a babe we see hope, we see new life, we see the freshness of a new beginning and a Mother so innocent, so radiant in Mary, for in her light radiated to her babe and from Him to the world. In this stable, born among the animals, shepherds gathered, the poorest of God’s people with their flocks and even the animals knew with a keen sense, an instinct that we as creatures fail to have, that here was the King, the one that is hope. As she held her child the light now radiated from her Babe to her heart, for she would forevermore share in his suffering and in all that her Son was to be to man.
It was His Mother that set Him on His path to Calvary and she followed in deep contemplative prayer, hidden for all to follow and to come to understand, for she is the most profound contemplative in the Church, and the one that will lead you to her Son, lead you to the deep wounds and becoming the Anima Christi, the heart of the Church’s illuminative prayers and meditations on sufferings, for they are the expression of love, and Mary holds these children in her heart. If anyone is to enter into a life with Christ, you will suffer, you must take up your cross daily and make the walk to Calvary.
I leave you with the consecration to Mary for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. It is particularly for the America’s but can be adapted to any Country.
Let us give thanks to Mary, and know that if you have a wounded heart, Mary, as with all
mothers is the place to start for the kiss and the band-aide to the wounded heart that begins the healing that you may become the heart of Christ. Much love on this day of her Immaculate Conception and please consecrate your heart this day to her, if not with this prayer then with one of your favorite. Amen

Let All Rejoice, For it is Finished – May 19, 2015

As you probably have guessed by now, we have come to the end of the road of the publishing of Desert Morning and the House of Nazareth.  It is always bittersweet to bring something to an end for there has been much joy and suffering in keeping this site going for in actuality seven and one half years.      God has made it very clear that it is time for my soul to rest that I might continue in prayer and growth towards knowing Him in an even a more powerful way.  I would like to thank my cohorts for their help and support over these many years as I wanted to tear my hair out and jump on the computer, (not exactly the will of God),  but most especially I want to thank all of you, my faithful readers, and there have been many.  The site has reached not only this country, but Australia, Belgium, South America, the Philippines, India, and even the Middle East, as well as Russia.   It is hard to imagine the workings of God when one just gets out of the way lets God do.    After the site goes off line you may no longer reach me at the houseofnazareth.org.  My address will change to sjmthomas1@mac.com.  Thanks be to God for all His words that touched so many hearts and restored glory for the Kingdom of God, for what man cannot do, God most certainly desires to do, through His creature that He loves and desires to use.  It is now time for one of you to take up the torch and carry it.  Be not afraid.  He goes before you. Amen!
